Colorado Population

Colorado is one of the fastest growing states in the United States. It’s largest and most populous city is Denver, Colorado’s capital. The estimated 2006 population of Colorado is 4,753,377, reflecting a jump of approximately 10.49% since the 2000 census. This is reflected in the Colorado real estate statistics as well. In 2005, there were 2,053,178 housing units, an increase of 13.56% from 2000.

Colorado Economy

Agriculture and the Federal government are big segments of Colorado’s economic base. The Denver Mint, and the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals are located in Denver. The U.S. Air Force Academy is based in Colorado Springs as well. Other expanding sectors include the industrial and service sectors. Minerals (gold!) and tourism also are key parts of the economic landscape.

Colorado Tourism and Recreation

Home of the highest peaks in the Rocky Mountains, so mountain climbing, whitewater rafting, and exploring national parks are a great pastime in Colorado. Colorado is also home to professional sports franchises in baseball, basketball, football and hockey. Did you know Colorado is considered the microbrew capital of the US? Each Fall, Denver hosts the Great American Beer Festival, so adults can participate in sampling many of the local and national beers made in America.
